“Act of self destruction” with reference to health Insurance policy:
While you sign on large list of terms and conditions offers, there is one clause which is worth to note. “Act of self distruction”.
It is generally associated with attempted suicide. If insurance company can prove we tried to attempt suicide, it can deny expenses arising out of it.
Oh..that is easy to understand! Not really. What it is interesting is the definition of attempted suicide. Any act of attempted self destruction including drugs and alcohol, could be potential rejections as per health insurance policy. To simplify, if insurance company can prove our hoapitax bill is due to drunken driving or can link it to our drinking habits, our claim could be rejected!
Unfortunately no alternative here. Almost health insurance companies in India and USA have this clause.
What is the way out? Yes, you now know the way.
So, before saying cheers next time, think again.
Healthy habits have their rewards.
